New York, NY — September 23, 2025 – The Family Preservation Alliance (FPA) proudly stands with First Lady Melania Trump following today’s formal launch of Fostering the Future Together—a global coalition of nations committed to enhancing the well-being of children through education, innovation, and technology.
Announced during the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, the First Lady introduced the initiative’s mission: “To ensure that every child can flourish in the digital era.” She emphasized the power of technology when used responsibly, noting:
“Innovation is wonderful. Our nations benefit from advancements in technology—saving lives, expanding access to knowledge, connecting people, and of course, safety.”
The Need to Focus on Our Children
The Family Preservation Alliance echoes the First Lady’s call with an urgent reminder: we must not only teach children about technology—we must protect their right to become their fullest selves.
Amid rising global concern over children’s mental health and emotional development, today’s youth are navigating not only digital landscapes, but also complex relational dynamics often shaped by fractured family systems.
Too often, children are psychologically overwhelmed by adult conflicts, particularly during divorce and separation, leading to self-alienation—a state in which a child’s identity becomes distorted in service of adult emotional needs. When left unaddressed, this hidden harm disconnects children from their authentic selves, strips them of a healthy internal sense of identity, and leaves them vulnerable to long-term emotional injury.
While academic debates continue around parental alienation and family conflict, the Family Preservation Alliance affirms one clear truth:
“This is not about parental contact. It is not about conflict or legal proceedings. It is about a child’s sovereign right to an independent and authentic sense of self.” — John Hamel, President of the Family Preservation Alliance
As coalition members begin implementing Fostering the Future Together, the Family Preservation Alliance urges leaders to consider not only children’s educational development, but also the psychological and emotional environments in which they are raised.
Fostering the Future Together – Initial Objectives
- Fostering the Future Together’s objectives during this initial phase include:
- Prioritization of personal development of children.
- Unification of efforts surrounding children, technology, and education.
- Collaboration with the private sector to provide access to innovative education technology, including artificial intelligence, robotics, and blockchain.
- Exchange of solutions encompassing advantages and risks of artificial intelligence.
Membership will include spouses or designated representatives of heads of government, with the initiative to be implemented at both national and local levels. The First Lady will host the inaugural meeting at the White House in early 2026.
“The global conversation on children’s rights must evolve beyond physical safety,” said John Hamel, President of the Family Preservation Alliance. “Psychological and emotional safety are just as essential—especially when children’s identities are being shaped in real time through both tech and trauma. The world cannot afford to neglect the inner world of the child any longer.”
